Physical Appearance:
China, to be blunt, looks like a girl. There. I said it. He's effeminite! I'm not sure whether it's because he's so short, or because of his face or because of his long hair, but he's pretty effeminite, I'll say that.
Anyway, the first thing I'll touch on (since I mentioned it earlier) is his hair: It's very dark brown, pretty much black, I'd say, actually, with what look (to me) like darker and lighter streaks, although I may just be going a little mad. Yes, that's probably it. Anyway, it's just longer than shoulder-length (coming down to fall at the middle of his shoulder blades), although a few shorter strands, coming down to his jaw, frame his face. He usually wears it tied back in a pony-tail, but it doesn't ever seem to get tangled, somehow, but when he has it out, he just looks like a girl, and it confuses people.
If you can get him to stay still long enough, you will notice that China has a very feminine build (but he usually doesn't actually stand still long enough for anybody to noticethis), although this isn't actually much when compared to all the other qualities that make him look feminine.
For the purpose of this RP, China has two items of clothing: a red mandarin jacket, which is mainly quite plain, but one corner has an intricate design on the silk. The cuffs, top of his collar and the frog-clasp buttons are gold fabric, and slightly rougher than the rest of the coat. He wears white trousers, and black shoes, with white socks (which, for some reason, have black around them).
China's other item of clothing is his military uniform: it's dark green, and the undershirt is white, while the jacket comes down to mid-thigh. The sleeves are slightly too long, so he is constantly shaking them down (because he can't be bothered to turn the cuffs up). The trousers are also like this, but he wears bandages from his knees down to his ankles for some (unknown) reason. He wears a red armband on his left arm, with a yellow star on it. The collar on the jacket is lower than the one on his Mandarin coat, and he doesn't wear the Mandarin coat as often as he wears his military uniform. But he hates the military uniform. He still wears it, but he despises it.
Animal Forms: Cat -- Dark brown, also has the scar over its back. Used most frequently.
Black eagle -- Used much less often.

Likes:
Pandas – Pandas are cute, even though Russia has a tendancy to stalk me in a... panda... suit...
Hong Kong – Hong is my adorable little brother! ... Even if he doesn't really like me.
Chao Fan – Chao Fan is yummy~!
Tea – I like tea. It is good!
Korea – Umm, since he's my little 'brother', I kind of have to say that.
Dislikes:
Korea – Yet I also don't like him. He keeps trying to grope me! It's annoying!
Russia – Russia terrifes me. He is so scaaarrryyy!
Japan – While I still think of him as my younger brother, I am afraid of Japan.
England – That man is cruel and immoral. An apology just isn't enough!
When food follows a certain pattern of tastes – I am a fussy eater.

Personality:
China, despite being 4,000 years old (or 5,000 years old, depending upon who you believe), does not have the mannerisms of an old man (unlike Japan, HA), and is very cheerful, and also appears to be incapable of acting like a nation of his age. I am not suggesting that he is immature, he just prefers not to be a kill-joy. Maybe this is because of the hardship he has endured (happiness is easy to fake, and, unless you happen to study behavior, you're unlikely to notice that it's fake), or it might be for some other reason, but it is true.
China seems to constantly do what he thinks is right by others; for example, if he were asked what he thought of South Korea, he would say that he liked him, but later would probably be cursing himself for not saying that he hated the boy. I guess, because he's so old or something, he's got to know what people are like, and what they'll do if he annoys them.
China is definitely a fussy eater (although a good cook, in his defense): he has been known to nag when foods follow a certain pattern of tastes, for some reason (which irritates Japan no end), and he just won't eat some things. Despite all this, he is certainly a good cook. Well, looking after many (about five or six) younger nations, I guess he would learn how to cook, and get at least moderately cook at cookery. Also, I guess it's something he enjoys, and you usually get good at what you enjoy.
While China acts immature, he has occasional attacks of maturity. Comic maturity, but maturity nonetheless: as in, while the rest of the allies are fighting, he splits up the Axis' territories (despite the fact he gives it all to himself, he stops the fighting between the others, despite then cenreing it on himself) while their fighting. They then come to a decision (and split it more fairly: I believe Russia got Germany) and split them more fairly, but he managed to diffuse the fighting anyway. Maybe living for as long as he has has helped him know when to be mature and when to be immature, or his immaturity may just be a facade. Well, quite a few people have completely fake personalities... I doubt whether or not China does, but... well...
China says aru a lot. Really, he says it a lot. It is his verbal tic, but he still says it a lot, as well as Aiyaa!!, although him saying this usually has something to do with Korea, and attempting to claim his breats. Which he does not have... Korea is still pretty convinced that he does, though, which is halfway between irritating and really funny. China finds it irritating, the other nations find it funny, as in.
Despite all this, though, China has been known to slip in to moments of melancholy, either when thinking about what has become of the world (bad stuff) or about Japan. Or both. Actually, when he thinks about both, he gets very depressed, and claims to have something in his eye.
Fears:
Russia –
China is very scared of Russia. Maybe it's because of the Sino-Soviet Split, maybe it's because he could always sense the teetering insanity that the taller man bears, but he just frightens him. Also, the fact that he never knows quite where the tall nation is frightens him a little: the fact that he's so good at stalking him in a panda suit frightens him a lot.
War –
Like many of China's other fears, this is based upon what he has experienced in life: Japan's betrayal, Korea, World War I and World War II, not to mention the countless Civil Wars that he has been through, he has an inherent fear of war, although this may be because he is a nation.
Being taken over –
This partly comes from him having been taken over a few times in the past, but partly from instinct. He is not naturally subservient, and he's quite anxious of what whoever takes him over will do: given that his economy is presently very good, he doesn't really want it messed up, like it was when he lived with Russia.
Japan –
China is particularly scared of Japan, and
Weaknesses:
Pacifist – I am nearly always the last to pick up arms, so I am usually quite weak.
Kind and caring – Yet look what happened with Japan. Not nice.
Superstitious – Yes, that is me. Very much so, and it can definitely be a weakness.
Inability to draw Manga-style art – Well I think it's a weakness!
Prone to snapping – Particularly where Korea is concerned.
Strengths:
Kind and caring – This is usually an advantage, because it's difficult to hold a grudge against someone nice.
Artistic – I'm a good artist. What more to be said?
Good cook – Goes with being a fussy eater.
Cheerful – Pretty much self-explanitory.
Am I forever dreaming,

History:
NOTE;;
This is all complete guess-work, since I don't know ANYTHING about China's past when he was little and adorable (not that he isn't adorable now, or anything. He's also pretty small - smaller than me, at least). So, this is based upon various ideas I've had (apart from Ancient China, which my Mum suggested), so... yeah.World: 0
China: 0
China was born 4,000 years ago, and, I assume, to Ancient China and an unknown female, who was probably human. 4,000 years ago, the world was very different to how it is now, but, more importantly, Ancient China was dying when his son was born, so it wasn't long before little China, who his father christened Wang Yao, meaning 'Brightly Shining King', in the hopes that the boy would be both of these thing, had to take over the throne, and come to represent China, and so it went.

China (modern China) was, at first, a very normal young man: he was somewhat self-obsessed, and for a while, China (the country) was quite weak.
China (Yao) met, at one point, a young boy called Korea. He was sweet and very small, with chocolate-brown hair and brown eyes, and, as Yao soon discovered, his mother had recently died. Because he was so kind-hearted, Yao adopted the boy, and acted as though Korea - Im Yong Soo - was his own son, even though the boy knew in his heart that they weren't related.
And so began the East Asia family.

China then met a young girl, whose name was Taiwan, who he called Mei. Mei, too, had lost her parents, and Yao also took her in and looked after her, and the family grew - again.
It was until Yao realized that the young girl in the court who followed him around all the time (and looked almost exactly like him), called Vietnam, was his twin sister, that he stopped acting like a stuck-up brat.
And then, he met Japan.

"Ugh... Every day another political struggle, and my body aches even more, aru," China murmured darkly, shaking out his hair and wincing as his hand touched a cut, and he accidentally moved a pulled muscle. "Oh," he murmured, looking anxiously ahead. There was a small boy there (the same size as Korea and Taiwan had been when they were little, in fact). "I have not seen him around before, aru," China said to himself. "Maybe he is a new nation, aru?" Amber eyes narrowing slightly as blows were exchanged somewhere, he walked over to the new nation.
"Hey, aru," he said. The small nation didn't start, or even move. He just looked, unblinkingly, up at China. "You must be new," China continued. "I am China, aru," he said, smiling. "If there is anything that you need to know, aru, then just ask me!" he said, smiling.
"..."
"Aren't you going to say anything, aru?" China wasn't offended, just surprised that the young nation didn't say anything to him.
"Konnichiwa, China-san-from-where-the-sun-sets. I am Japan-from-where-the-sun-rises," the small nation said. China's eye twitched.
"AIYAA! This kid is so RUDE, aru!" he yelled. Japan stared up at him, as though to say,
"Am I older, or are you?"
Well, who was to know?
China raised Japan for several thousand years, and taught him pretty much everything: how to write, count, everything. Japan always amaed him with his intelligence, and Japan was a friendly little child, if somewhat... stoic.
That was why China wasn't expecting it.
"Japan, aru?" China called, before muttering, "No, no Japan in he- oh, THERE you are, aru!" he said, chuckling, before he noticed his little brother's severe expression. And then fact that there was a katana in his hand (amongst things). "Hmm... Japan, what have I told you about practicing using your Katana, hmm, aru?" China said, tipping his head on one side in a childish manner.
No reply for a second.
"China-san, I am sorry to do this," Japan said, removing his katana fully from its sheath. It took China a second to put two and two together (him. Angry looking Japan. Katana. OH NO!), but when he did, he didn't react.
"Very well Japan, aru. I, too am- ACKH!" He fell to the ground with a thud, and blood poured out of the open wound on to the floor.
When he opened his eyes, Japan was gone.

China stayed in his home for a long time after that, and when he returned to the rest of the world, he discovered that it had changed a lot. For a start, he discovered that he had an illegitimate half-brother, Hong Kong, a quiet young boy.
Second off, he met Russia.
World: 5
China: 1

Russia seemed sweet and kind, but China could tell, right from the beginning, that something was very much wrong with the boy: whether it was the way he laughed or just the way he looked, China wasn't sure about the boy. But they were still friends.

There was a LOT to come.
First off, the British Empire: Japan was right to be over-prepared and to learn to fight; he was so right. England feared him; England didn't come near him.
But he came near China.
There was a war.
China lost.
He lost so sorely...
He lost his little brother, Hong Kong.

China took a long time to recver from that, and, for a while, he was highly introverted, but he recovered. Not quickly, but he recovered. He recovered.

But then, there was the First World War.
Yup, that really sucked.
REALLY sucked.
Then again, he didn't get quite so tangled in to it as some of the others (GERMANY) did, but he was still involved, but there was a period of peace after that.
Soon to come, however, was the Great Leap Forward.
First, though, came the Second World War. China just fought on the side Japan wasn't on, even though England (who he hated at that point in time) was on that side.
At the end of that war, the first Atomic Bomb was dropped on Japan by America.
China wanted no part of that; he didn't want to be the one to nearly kill his little brother, no. That would have been just going too far.
World: 8
China: 2
China: 2
And then there was the Cold War.
The Cold War, pretty much, was America and Russia poking each-other and preparing to drop Neuclar Warheards on each-other, and was pretty scary. Lots of stuff happened during that time (the Iron Curtain, to name one thing), but there was also The Sino-Soviet Split.
World: 9
China: 2
China: 2
China's relations with Russia were becoming increasingly strained by this time, and China coming down on the other side of the Iron Curtain hadn't really helped, and so the Sino-Soviet Split ended up happening, and China lost his only friend.

China: 2
China: 2
China sailed, miserably, along for a while after that, until 1997, when the British Empire was nearing collapse: they were just keeping a hold of Hong Kong.
But, in 1997, Hong Kong returned to Chinese rule.

Family?:
South Korea – Adopted younger brother – Aiyaa! This boy is crazy, aru! I do NOT have breasts!
Japan – Adopted younger ‘brother’ – Hmm. This boy betrayed me, but I still care about him. It frightens me how war has changed my little brother… But I can forgive him the heart-ache he has caused…
Hong Kong – Younger brother – Living with England has changed my little brother. He’s still the same, but… No, it’s hard to explain…
Taiwan – Younger ‘sister’ – How am I mean to Japan? ‘Cause she seems to think I am.
Enemies and Rivals?:
Japan – Adopted younger ‘brother’ – Hmm. This boy betrayed me, aru, but I still care about him. It frightens me how war has changed my little brother… But I can forgive him the heart-ache he has caused…
England – ‘Looked after’ Hong Kong – Ugh. I hate this man. He is a cruel monster with no sensibility.
Russia – Northern neighbour – Eeek! This man terrifies me, aru! He is so frightening, and he constantly threatens me because of the Sino-Soviet split! … And he stalks me dressed in a Panda suit.
RP Sample:
Dernit.
Seriously, dernit.
China was completely blind, 'thanks' to England cursing him. Now, he was in a small room (he thought so, at least), his eyes bandaged, and attempting to work out where Hong Kong was, if he was anywhere.
For a second, when he put a hand, his figertips brushed something, but then he lost whatever it was. Cursing himself (and England) under his breath, he got shakily up, remembering the last words England had said to him before he made him blind.
"China, I really don't want you to get any worse injured. Just hold my hand or something; I'll take you back to my house."
China didn't acutally know why he needed to be blind - he knew what had just happened with the Korea twins, him, Hong Kong and Japan; the last thing he remembered was Hong Kong shreiking and something - something searing hot, to be exact - being dragged across his eyes.
Yup. That was going to scar.
Then, England had come in, realized what had just happened and told China, in a very calm, gentle voice, that if he opened his eyes now, he would most likely be blind for the rest of his life (a considerably long time for the Asian nation, given that he was immortal), and had blinded him temporarily, and then gone about getting him back home. China had pretty much blacked out (strange comment or what?) as soon as he got in, and England must have shifted him in to another room so that he could sleep without breaking his neck.
Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice, and, attempting to negotiate the room without being able to see any of it, he got up, leaning over a little and brushing his figertips over the wall.
"H-Hong Kong, aru?" he said uncertainly, finding a door and opening it.
God only knew what it opened on to, though.
Well, China certainly didn't.
