Physical Appearance:
Clothing;;
Spain's choice of military uniform is a tan jacket with 3/4-length sleeves, along with a pair of tan trousers. He wears a pair of short brown boots, and has puttees wrapped around his legs. He also wears a red neckbow on his jacket and a golden cross, along with a shoulder strap attached to his belt which goes over his right shoulder. When at a world meeting, he prefers to wear a white dress shirt (occasionally with the sleeves rolled up if he needs to work on something) along with brown pants and a red tie. His style of clothing outside meetings and important events is generally casual. He wears whatever clean clothes there happen to be, really he’s not all that picky nor too caring of his appearance so you would never assume that he plans each outfit three days before, preferring comfort and maneuverability over fashion and glam anyway day. Normally, this somehow works and he is decently presentable, wearing a nice-fitting shirt, some trendy jeans/capris, and sandals or converses. Sometimes throws on a black faux fur-trimmed jacket if it’s chilly out.
Not as well known or out of the ordinary as the flower in Elizabeta’s hair nor the Italy Brother’s curls, the cross he wears symbolizes the deeply rooted Roman Catholic religion Spain has followed most his life, it being golden because of the exploration days, and being placed on a thin chain demonstrates his more secular nature and willingness to let go and bend the rules of religion more easily.

Likes: Tomatoes ;;
You know.. they were originally used for a decoration. But when France learned that they made a good ingredient and food in general, that made the red fruit vegetable thing even more desirable in the nation's eyes. Who doesn't love a delicious food that's going through an identity crisis?
Children;; No! Not like that! He has a fondness for children, probably due to his more childish nature.
(three more!)
Dislikes: Blood;;
During his teen years he would have told you the sight of blood to be amazing and beautiful, as well as a sign of victory on his part if he was drenched in his enemy's blood. However he now sees it for what it is. A sinful spill of innocent life that he terrorized during his conquistador years.

Personality:
Cheerful. No matter what, this Spaniard will always and forever be remembered as that cheerful, clueless, country bumpkin. Despite the many hardships he has faced in his life, he finds some way to be rather optimistic about everything and passionate over whatever he sets his mind to. This is mostly due to the sunshine that lights his day and country's vast fields. There is rarely a moment where he is without a smile, loving to simply laugh and grin for no reason at all. This is just how most people identify him as. Or is this merely a front he shows to those surrounding him?
Some people have conflicting views when it comes to the Spaniard, calling him two-faced. While most see only the positive side of Spain, others claim, and have proof, of the worse half of the man’s persona - seeing him as manipulative, strict, barbaric, possessive, and pessimistic. No one is prefect. During his “pirate, conquistador, and inquisition” years, many would describe him as a bit of a loon but nonetheless a force to be reckoned with. Cruel and ruthless to those who he sees as enemies, not many wanted to stand in his way. But that was then and this is now, he gets along with most, however harbors some grudges over certain countries. Yet he does not let this get in the way of what he must do.
A man who tries to give it his all when fighting for something he wants beyond a doubt. Spain may not be the once glorious fighter he was back then in his early years, but damn he certainly will die trying to protect his people as well as South Italy and his people. However… this doesn’t mean he would ever be happy with having to pick up his axe, among other weapons, again to fight in any upcoming wars. But he will. Reluctantly, but... he will protect those dear to him.
Setting that aside, it would seem that he enjoys the company of people very much, children in general, even more specifically the Italy brothers. Whether this is due to the more childish side of his personality or some paternal instinct to hover over the more innocent and weak nations, it is unsure. He has a protective, nearly possessive, attitude towards South Italy, due to the centuries of Spanish rule over South Italy.
A complex man, indeed. Because of this, some people do have to question just what in the world is going on in that mind of his at times.
Fears: Antonio always tells people that there’s nothing to fear because he’ll always be there. Unfortunately, he isn’t right. There is always something to fear.
Abandonment;; It is never fun. Like most, he does fear being left behind. How can he not? Although everyone has already left him anyways, so he isn’t as fearful of it, but he would rather have someone to accompany him. It’s nice to have people around.
No Siesta;; This may seem like a foolish fear but it really stresses the nation out if he is unable to take the time for a quick siesta. Perhaps it is not exactly a fear of not taking the siesta itself, but the fact that he would be so busy not to be able to. It just does not seem right, and freaks him out.
Vital Regions;; Them being crushed by Romano. This is a legitimate fear! A simple nightmare of it was more than enough to cause him to worry about this. You wouldn’t want your vital regions crushed, now would you?!
Weaknesses: Clueless;; He is either unable to read the atmosphere or simply chooses not to. This, while he typically means well, gets him into trouble. Mainly for the reason that he’ll say something that would only make the situation worse.
Children;; That’s a weakness right? It seems that when it comes to children, he can never say no. Sure, he can scold them, but in the end he will sympathize with them and go easy on them. It’s rather sad. But he can’t help it! They are sooo cute!!!
Parenting, in general;; Ok, so… we all know Romano didn’t exactly turn out to the brightest and best of the bunch, but eh. Because of his lenient attitude towards Romano, the boy does have some attitude problems. However, when he was more stern and stricter with his colonies over in the Americas, they all thought him to be too rough and subsequently left him to declare independence. Seems he can never catch a break.
Weak/Sickly;; Let’s face it, Spain has been getting on in years and really is no longer the once powerful nation that he was. Economically, he just isn’t doing well, so he has been a little under the weather.
Gullible/'Gofer';; We've established that this nation has difficulty saying no to children, this also extends to friends as well.
Strengths: Two-Faced;;
May not be a good strength to have but you cannot deny that this nation know how to fool others very well. He is very good at 'lip service'.

History:
General Abridged Ver. Of History;;
Under the rule of the Roman Empire, Spain, known then as Aragon, and his elder sister, Castile, (together as Hispania) provided food, olive oil, wine, and metal for the great empire at the time. His childhood wasn’t exactly fantastic. Although he does not remember it very clearly, by choice or trauma who’s to say, his sister Castile had been taken over by Moorish rulers and Muslim conquest. And so ensued the long battle to reserve the Muslim conversion and return to Catholicism. Spain, at the time, was only a small child but knew he did what little he could to help his sister in the many centuries it took to drive out or convert the Moorish.
With the fall of the Roman Empire, so was their freedom granted. However, the battles with the Moorish had left Castile in bad shape. With the death of Henry IV in 1474, the Castilian Throne was empty. This led to a power struggle which was ended by the marriage between Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand V of Aragón, thus unifying the crowns. Castile eventually relinquish herself as a nation and gave power to Aragon. Aragon was then newly named the Kingdom of Spain.
As a teen, Spain, along with his relative, Portugal, spent a good portion of his time exploring the new world, enjoying the many wonders it had to offer. This was also a rather… dark time for the male. For reasons really unknown to many and even the person himself, Spain had devoutly listened to the word of God and thought to bring “light” to the world. Soon a horror was unleashed upon those who were not Catholic. All perished and suffered if they questioned the word of God. If called a heretic, a witch, a Jew, something that the Catholic Church and Vatican saw as a threat, Spain would quickly and painfully take you out. Setting that aside, the Spanish Empire dominated the oceans with its experienced navy and ruled the European battlefield with its fearsome and well trained infantry, the famous tercios. Spain enjoyed a cultural golden age in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries becoming the first world power. Despite the fact with a bad run in with some pirates and England, which led to the ruin of his beloved Armada. (Eff you, Arthur. Eff you.)
It was also during this golden age, that Spain entered a ‘marriage’ with Austria. Though it was an arranged one and rather short lived at that. But even so, the two got along decently. Both, being great patrons of art at the time, would paint or create music together to pass the time. It was under Hapsburg rule that Spain acquired his three ‘henchman’ whom he saw, at least two of them anyway, as family – South Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands. From that point on Spain had become historically stuck on South Italy, always at his aid no matter what. These were good times for Spain. But eventually everything comes crumbling down. Suffering frequent attacks from pirates of the Ottoman Empire and North Africa along with an economic slump because of an all too high dependency on gold and silver imports, Spain quickly flittered into a second-rank power.
As Spain laid sick, torn, and beaten, France and Austria fought over who would take control over the country. Eventually France won and Spain was given into his care. Spain followed France wherever. From then, Spain and France had remained relatively close – despite the fact that Spain isn’t exactly happy with being by France’s side. The two fought alongside each other in many wars, including but not limited to War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Years’ War.
It took Spain a very long time to recover from what had happen to him. But eventually he became well enough and due to his military assistance to the rebellious British colonies in the American War of Independence won a renewed international standing. (Take that you stupid pirate.) But this did not mean the nation had made a fully recovery.
Let’s skip a bit, shall we? Mainly Spain has being having a few issues: losing his ‘children’ (due to France and England, both their faults… Francis wouldn’t let go of me and Arthur sparked an independent attitude in the colonies) many of the South American countries no longer wish to have anything to do with the nation, the Spanish Influenza, revolution and anarchy, many other self-destructive behaviors.
At some point Spain had a bit of an identity crisis and lost his sanity. The Spanish Civil war was a time when the nation had to be basically tied down in order to prevent himself from being hurt. Many others had come to his aid, although for Germany at the time it was merely a means of distraction to the other countries as he took over Austria during WWII. Eventually the nation did regain his sanity but the ordeal left him shaken. This lead to the Franco dictatorship which in turn caused Spain to be isolated from a good majority of the world. The only ones who had refused to comply to the UN’s encouragement to countries of removing their ambassadors in Spain and establish measures against Spain if the government remained authoritarian, were Portugal and a few Latin-American countries. (TT 3 TT They DO care.)
In recent days, after transitioning into democracy in 1987, Spain’s life has been a little quieter. He’s more laidback and relaxed, becoming the most decentralized territorial organization in Western Europe, letting go a little bit of his more insane religious ways (as shown by legalizing same-sex marriage) and focusing on bettering his future along with putting more effort in protecting this small peace.
